Privacy Policy

Devotion Journal Sidebar (the "extension") was built around a simple promise: your spiritual journal is yours alone. This policy explains, plainly, what the extension does and does not do with your information.

The short version

• Everything you write stays on your own device.
• There are no accounts, no sign-in, no tracking, and no analytics.
• The extension never reads, records, or transmits the content of the websites you visit.
• We do not collect, sell, or share any personal data.

What the extension stores, and where

Your journal entries, Bhagavad Gita reflection notes, tags, daily-prompt preferences, and theme choice are saved locally using your browser's built-in extension storage (chrome.storage.local). This data lives on your device. It is not uploaded to us or to anyone else, and we have no ability to read it. If you uninstall the extension or clear its data, that information is removed.

You can export your journal at any time as a plain file, and (with Sanctuary Plus) as a passphrase-encrypted backup. Those files are created and saved locally by you; they are never sent anywhere.

Permissions we request

• Side panel — to open the journal in the browser's side panel.
• Storage — to save your entries and settings locally on your device.
• Alarms — to refresh the optional gentle daily reflection prompt.

The extension requests no access to your browsing history, your open tabs, or the content of any web page. It does not use content scripts.

Optional Sanctuary Plus and payments

Sanctuary Plus is an optional, one-time unlock for additional features. If you choose to purchase it, payment is handled entirely on the checkout page of our payment provider, Dodo Payments. We never see or store your card details.

When you activate, validate, or deactivate a Sanctuary Plus license, the extension makes a request to Dodo Payments (https://live.dodopayments.com) to confirm the license. For this purpose the extension stores only your license key and a license instance identifier, locally on your device. This is the only situation in which the extension contacts the internet. If you never use Sanctuary Plus, the extension makes no network requests at all. Dodo Payments processes payment information under its own privacy policy.

Children's privacy

The extension is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. Because no data is collected or transmitted, no personal information about children is gathered.

Your choices and rights

Because your data never leaves your device, you remain in full control of it at all times. You can edit or delete any entry within the extension, export your data, or remove all of it by clearing the extension's storage or uninstalling it. Where laws such as the GDPR or CCPA grant rights over personal data, note that we hold no personal data about you to access, correct, or delete on your behalf.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
